Soar hundreds of metres above the valley. Participants will enjoy unobstructed views. Fly tandem with a fully qualified pilot or complete a course to qualify for a pilots licence. A Tandem Trial Introductory Flight provides views of the Alpine country. Soar like an eagle, high in the sky, and then glide gently to earth - how exhiliarating is that?
Swimming is available at the Ovens River - check out the old photo here - and at the pool at the Gavan Street Sports Centre.
Wandiligong Maze is usually a hit. Send the kids in and settle back with a nice coffee from the cafe. When everyone is back together, have a putt on the crazy golf course behind the maze. The cafe is licensed - just in case! 03 5750 1311
Bright Country Golf Club is a nice 18 hole course - lovely setting and layout. Clubs and buggies can be hired if needed. 03 5755 1733. The course is off the Back Porepunkah Road.
Cycling has some great facilites in and around Bright. The Rail-trail is gentle, the BMX circuit is fun, and the local bike shop is very well equipped with hire equipment, as well as stuff you can actually buy. There are some other tracks around that are a bit more challenging than the rail-trail.
Retail Opportunities - plenty of those in Bright and around. Perhaps you'll be lucky enough to catch a Saturday Market in Ireland Street. These are not weekly. For information, applications & bookings phone/fax: (03) 5755 1696 - Rotary Club of Bright
Local Wineries include Boyntons (at Porepunkah) and Mount Buffalo Wines (at Bright Berry Farms, Eurobin). Boynton's have a nice cafe operating during the summer months. Cold weather reds and Liqueur fruit wines are the flavour at Mount Buffalo Wines - try the smoky red from 2004, it's an interesting taste!. Slightly further afield, try Gapsted Wines (5km north of Myrtleford on the Great Alpine Way) and Brown Brothers (Milawa)
Local Brewery - Yes, Bright now brews its own, and a fine drop it is too! You may catch the author knocking back an ocasional Hellfire Ale .... It's sold at a few of the eateries around town, including The Cosy Kangaroo, a Bright icon. The Bright Brewery is located on the Great Alpine Way in Bright - 03 5755 1301 next door to the Visitor Information Centre. Cheers!
